Henry Wise Wood Students Speak Out to Alberta Government

The SpeakOut Alberta Student Engagement Initiative is a program run by the Government of Alberta to encourage students to speak out about their school experiences.  Students participate in a forum that allows them to describe their positive and negative feelings towards school in a safe and trusting atmosphere.  A variety of cultural and academic backgrounds of students are used for the engagement imitative so that the government can gain a clearer picture of education in Alberta.

Any student in Alberta (or alumni) can participate in an interactive online forum to discuss issues surrounding education.  The forum is online at the SpeakOut website, www.speakout.alberta.ca

Each year, the Government hosts a SpeakOut Conference, allowing students to meet new people from throughout the province and share their views on Education.  Congratulations to Helen W., Lok T., David C., Rob C. and Michael S. who, along with teacher Ms. McEvoy-Halston, represented Henry Wise Wood High School at the conference in Edmonton, Alberta May 14-16.  They were part of a thirty-five student delegation from the Calgary Board of Education that attended the conference.
